As a retired Veternary Medicine Professor, Ken has plenty of time to devote to “pickin and a grinnin” these days. Ken specializes in the bluegrass repertoire, especially the music of Don Reno and Earl Scruggs.

Josh Houchin: Josh has been performing with the Prairie Dogs since 2001, and is the longest standing bass player in history of the band (significant because he is the 23rd!) Josh hails from Olney, IL and enjoys entertaining audiences singing a variety of songs, playing melodies on the bass and accompanying the other Dogs.

Tex Wynn: Local legend Tex Wynn has been playing since the 1940’s, and with the Prairie Dogs since 2000. He is a whiz on the resophonic guitar and the best story teller this side of Mark Twain. Though he is not on all the Prairie Dogs’ events, he adds authenticity and beautiful, steel melodies whenever he is. Be sure to catch him with the Prairie Dogs the first friday of each month at The Iron Post (120 S. Race, Urbana, IL)
